I spotted this downtown recently. Seeing the work of Neo and Mandoe MAK around my neighborhood when I was a kid motivated me BIG TIME to try my hand at writing....
So I ended up doin' a panel (see here) for this art thing at the newAngel City Brewery. Info below:
Street Brewed
Opening Reception: April 29, 2011 | All Night
Angel City Brewing
216 S Alameda St. (At Traction) Los Angeles, CA 90012
Featuring work by a ton of people including ABCNT, Lady Aiko, Augor MSK, Cern, Cryptik, Dabs & Myla, D*Face, Easo, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, James Haunt, Logan Hicks, How & Nosm, EyeOne, JR, Kid Zoom, Phil Lumbang, Mear One, Ernesto Yerena Montejano, Nomadé, Saber, Swoon, and Tanner.
These are some more examples of art in the streets I've found while rolling around Los Angeles. (Not sure I can call it "street art" since that term now refers to stuff found inside museums, galleries, private collections, etc. Following similar logic, then, maybe art found on the actual streets would have to be called "indoor art" or something like that.)
More of my previous street art curatorial work here.
I had the honor of visiting La Mano Press over the weekend. I've long been a fan of their work which combines the Mexican calavera tradition with contemporary social and political themes. It's no secret I heart printmaking, so I was super stoked when they asked Cache and I to collaborate on a print with them. SHyeah!!!
Not too sure what the name of this exhibit implies (as I definitely do not consider myself "All City" by any stretch of the imagination,) but here's the 411:

Mick Ebeling gave an inspirational presentation at TED earlier this year regarding Tempt, the Eyewriter Initiative, and getting things done. Peep game.
I contributed a piece to the Hellion Gallery From Portland With Love fundraiser taking place this week in Tokyo. (Technically, I'm not based in the PDX, but I heart it just the same.) Info below:

This is a charity art show featuring Portland, Oregon artists (and me!) All proceeds will go to the victims of the earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, 2011.
I have a piece in Frank 151's Art + Style event taking place tonight as part of Minneapolis Fashion Week. Info below:
Frank151 celebrates the Minneapolis Lumberjackers during MNfashion Week, with a fundraiser for the Minneapolis Home for Children.
Bring a toy to donate, and get one raffle ticket to win a piece of art by talented names like Adam Booka, Amy Gee, Amelia LeBarron, Ibi Ibrahim, Michael Gaughan, Ben Lafond, Michael Cina, CES, Chanel Kennebrew, Eyeone, Christina Rimstad, and many more.
Music is provided by the always stylish, and always incredible DJ Bach. A little bit of style, a little bit of art, add Frank151 to the mix...good!
The event will be hosted by Frank's very own Art & Style writer Joan Erakit!
Back in 2007 I participated in an exhibit at Crewest dedicated to the L.A. River. I hung a selection of my photographs with wooden clothespins and lined the floor with river rocks. (How conceptual of me...)
