I checked out the Richard Neutra sketches and drawings exhibit at the L.A. Central Library over the weekend, and I gotta say, it is definitely a dope way to spend a few hours or a few days. I was drawn to his buildings as a kid cruising around the L.A. area before I even knew who he was, and seeing his drawings up close got me way hyped.
From the press release: "The exhibition features choice selections at the Charles E. Young Research Library’s Department of Special Collections, UCLA. The pieces range from early pencil sketches from Neutra’s student wandering in 1913 to later pastel renderings of his Los Angeles houses from the 1950s. Selected for their artistic quality, the works illustrate Neutra’s skill in traditional notions of composition combined with his innovative techniques of architectural representation."

Tradition is proud to present :Critical:, a two-person art show featuring the artwork of Mear and Yem, two of LA's most prolific graffiti writers. :Critical: examines the nature of these two legendary graffiti writers and their approach to fine art.
MEAR ONE: examines the aspects of content that accompany any piece of art. He is literally working on communicating some of what we as a society have forgotten or are unable to see.
YEM: navigates through a multi-media platform where information (data) and art intersect. The result is a visual experiment that tests the icons of the culture industry. His work involves a participation in which Theodor Adorno claims that it goes under the name of terror in mass culture. He is a pioneer of the Los Angeles graffiti/urban art movement and has shown through out the US and Europe. He is self taught.
