From INAH's website: “For the first time, there is a worldwide articulation of organizations, activists and media; among the cumulus of ideas, is Anarchism, more than Communism, the school of thought that influenced Mexico the most. This fact has not been accounted in Mexican historiography, characterized by its inbred analysis of internal causes of the movement, without considering international reasons”.

Cache and I got invited by Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) to participate in the International Symposium on Migration and Revolution. Organized by the Dirección de Estudios Históricos, the symposium gathers historians and academics to explore the role of migration on the Mexican Revolution.
We will be collaborating with Mexican graffiti writers and street art'ers Ashes ICR, Dr. Rabias, Lapiztola, and others on a mural at INAH's Historical Studies building. We will also be sneaking off to hear presentations by academic heavyweights such as Mike Davis, Devra Weber, and Juan Gomez Quiñonez. Info below:

I'm posting some info about the DREAM Act (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act ) that I received from Tim over at Rampart 213. The video above breaks down what the DREAM Act is about. It follows a group of students discussing their search for higher education and legal immigration status.
On a sad note, two of the students in the video, Tam Tran and Cynthia Felix, recently passed away in a car accident. Their activism and work on this issue has been instrumental in spreading the word about the injustices suffered by undocumented students. Their legacy continues.

The San Francisco Public Library has long been host to some awesome and unique exhibitions. Case in point is Coloring Outside The Lines: Black Cartoonists as Social Commentators, currently showing in the Main Library's African American Center. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the Bay Area anytime soon.
From the Curator's Statement: "Comic strips offer a unique form of social criticism and commentary. The best cartoons expose some truths and, to quote the Bible, 'the truth will set you free.' Cartoonists must often be provocateurs."
